Tesco Work Experience
After a successful launch of our partnership in 2024, Blind in Business are delighted to share that Tesco have committed to extending our work experience collaboration into 2025.
Tesco, the UK’s largest grocery retailer, have the bold ambition of providing 200,000 work experience and employer encounters specifically for Special Educational Needs (SEND) students. They share BiB’s commitment to building young people’s employability skills and providing experiences that grow confidence.
This 5-day opportunity is open to any of our blind or partially sighted students aged between 14 – 18 years old who are in full time education. The work experience will take place within their larger stores and every effort will be made to secure work experience at the store closest to the participant’s home. Incredibly, Tesco have offered flexibility around when the student works, so dates across the year will be considered.
If you feel that you would like to take advantage of this fabulous opportunity, please complete the form that follows: https://forms.office.com/e/fKT95ZyAKK

Fortem Work Experience
The amazing Social Value team at Fortem collaborated with our Pathways Service team to deliver a wonderful online work experience event during the May half term.
Fortem, one of the UK’s market leading social housing and property service contractors, co-hosted a three-day work experience for our 14- 18-year-old cohort. Students participated in a variety of exciting, confidence building activities that helped them gain an insight into the breadth of careers within the industry. The Fortem team also helped students develop their employability skills and enabled them to practice transferable workplace skills.
A massive thank you to Alfie, Natalie & Jayne in the Social Value Team for creating a wonderful experience, and to all the Fortem staff who volunteered their time to make the event so engaging, meaningful and successful.
Dolphin Work Experience
We are delighted to celebrate our first virtual work experience in collaboration with Dolphin Computer Access, the software developers behind SuperNova, GuideConnect, EasyReader amongst others.
In October half term, the Dolphin team welcomed 9 of our Pathways students to undertake a three-day experience. During their time in the business, participants completed a variety of tasks including software testing, market research, blog writing, sales pitches and accessible game design. Some lucky students even had their work published on the Dolphin website.
The experience was a resounding success for everyone involved. 100% of participants fed back that they found the experience enjoyable and would recommend it to a friend! The wonderful people at Dolphin have committed to providing more virtual work experience placements in the year ahead.
Thank you to Rachel and all her team for their amazing work and commitment to this incredible work experience. Particular “shout outs” go to Alex, Simon, Stefan, Kim and Belle. Collectively they raised the bar of our virtual work experience delivery.
Pathways Celebration of Achievement
This summer, the Pathways Service team hosted their inaugural “Summer Celebration of Achievement”. We wanted to host an in-person event where we could congratulate all the Pathways students who had successfully completed Building Prospects (our employment skills workshops) or work experience, during the 2023/24 academic year.
We enjoyed a fabulous day out in London, first visiting the Castle Climbing Centre before heading over to the West Reservoir Centre for refreshments and an afternoon of fun activities. A huge BIB “Thank You” goes out to all of the staff at both venues who made our day such a great success.
We are planning to host similar celebrations throughout 2025, so watch this space for further details.
