Have you ever wondered what it’s really like to work for a major organisation?
This summer, Blind in Business and Cadent Gasare inviting you to step behind the scenes of one of the UK’s largest energy companies for three exciting days of virtual work experience.
This isn’t about sitting through long presentations or watching from the sidelines. It’s about getting involved.
You’ll meet the people behind the business, explore different careers, work together to solve real workplace challenges and discover what life is really like inside a national organisation.
Whether you’re already thinking about your future career or simply fancy trying something new, this is a fantastic opportunity to build your confidence, meet other young people with sight loss and experience the world of work in a fun, supportive and fully accessible environment.
What can you expect?
Over three interactive days, you’ll:
- Step behind the scenes of Cadent Gas and discover the wide range of careers that keep the organisation running.
- Meet employees from across the business and hear the stories behind their career journeys.
- Explore departments including the Customer Centre, Emergency Dispatch Centre, Energy Control Centre, and Crisis Management & Communications.
- Take on interactive challenges based on real workplace situations.
- Work alongside other students to solve problems, share ideas and support one another.
- Ask questions, build your professional network and find out what employers are really looking for.
Everything has been designed to be engaging, interactive and fully accessible, so you’ll be learning by doing from start to finish.
What will you leave with?
By the end of the programme, you’ll have much more than three days of work experience.
You’ll leave with:
- Greater confidence speaking up, sharing ideas and working with new people.
- Practical experiences you can talk about in future job, college or university applications.
- Stronger teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills.
- A better understanding of how a large organisation operates and the variety of careers available.
- New connections, new experiences and, hopefully, a few new friends.
Most importantly, you’ll leave knowing that the workplace has a place for you, and you might even surprise yourself with what you’re capable of!
